Adaptive Psychosocial Recovery Coaching Programme

Real-World, Best‑Practice, NDIS‑Aligned Framework

1. Programme Overview

This programme is a real‑world, adaptive Psychosocial Recovery Coaching (PRC) model designed for face‑to‑face delivery with NDIS participants living with psychosocial disability.

It reflects how recovery actually happens: non‑linear, paced, relational, and capacity‑building.

The programme is:

  • Recovery‑oriented and participant‑led
  • Non‑clinical and non‑therapeutic
  • Designed to work alongside therapy, not replace it
  • NDIS compliant, structure and intent
  • Suitable for registered providers, and unregistered providers where plan management allows

2. Core Design Principles

2.1 Adaptive, Not Linear

Participants may move forward, pause, or revisit modules as needed. Progress is measured by functional capacity, not completion speed.

2.2 Capacity Before Complexity

Foundational stability (routine, safety, predictability) is prioritised before higher‑order goals.

2.3 Relationship‑Based Delivery

Trust and consistency are central mechanisms of change.

2.4 Translation, Not Treatment

Coaching supports application of insights into daily life, not therapy or clinical work.

3. Programme Structure (Modular Model)

Rather than fixed weekly themes, this programme uses six adaptive modules that are revisited as needed.

Module 1) Engagement & Safety Module 2) Daily Life & Routine Stabilisation Module 3) Capacity & Skill Development Module 4) Confidence, Identity & Participation Module 5) Independence & Consolidation Module 6) Transition & Closure

NDIS Line Item: Psychosocial Recovery Coaching – Face‑to‑Face

10. Stability & Re‑Engagement Pathway (Critical Feature)

This pathway is activated when engagement drops or distress increases.

Includes:

  • Identifying early warning signs
  • Scaling back goals
  • Returning to basics (routine, contact)
  • Re‑establishing engagement without pressure

This is not crisis support or therapy.

11. Between‑Session Practice Model

Each session concludes with:

  • 1–2 small, achievable actions
  • Clear definition of success
  • Optional reflection next session

This supports real‑world change between sessions.

12. Therapy‑Integration Translation Layer

With participant consent, coaching may:

  • Align with therapy goals at a functional level
  • Support daily‑life application of agreed strategies
  • Avoid interpretation or clinical language

13. Intensity Tiers

Tier Description: Tier 1) Light structure & motivation Tier 2) Active skill‑building & participation Tier 3) Stabilisation‑focused capacity building

14. Programme Duration Guidance

12 Weeks: Focused capacity building and stabilisation

26 Weeks: Deep consolidation and sustained independence

15. Documentation Standards

Use functional language only:

  • “Building routines”
  • “Supporting confidence and participation”
  • “Developing independence”

16. Programme Outcomes Summary

Participants are supported to:

  • Increase independence
  • Build sustainable routines
  • Strengthen confidence
  • Engage in meaningful life roles
  • Progress toward self‑defined recovery

This programme represents current best‑practice psychosocial recovery coaching within the NDIS framework.
